Sort method

About This Tool

Free text sorter online — sort any list of lines alphabetically (A–Z or Z–A), numerically (smallest to largest or reverse), or by line length. Supports case-insensitive sorting and can optionally remove duplicates after sorting. No sign-up, instant, browser-based. Common uses: alphabetizing a bibliography or reference list, sorting a keyword list for an SEO content plan, ordering a list of names for a directory, numerically sorting a list of prices or scores, and ordering code import statements. The line-length sort is useful for creating visual staircase patterns in creative text or for organizing content by complexity. Paste any list, pick a sort mode, and download or copy the sorted output.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it sort numbers correctly?+
Yes. In Numeric mode, lines are parsed as numbers so 10 sorts after 9, not between 1 and 2 as it would in alphabetical sort.
Does it sort case-insensitively?+
By default, uppercase comes before lowercase (standard ASCII sort). Enable case-insensitive mode to sort "Apple" and "apple" as the same.
