Frequently Asked Questions

Does it count words in scanned PDFs?+
Only if the scan has been processed with OCR (optical character recognition) and has a text layer. Scanned image PDFs without a text layer will return a zero count.
Does it count all pages?+
Yes, by default it counts all pages. You can also specify a page range to count words in specific sections.
How accurate is the figure count?+
The figure count detects embedded images across all pages of the PDF and is generally accurate, since it reads the PDF's internal image objects directly rather than guessing from layout.
How accurate is the table count?+
PDFs have no built-in concept of a "table" — the tool estimates table count by detecting grid-like patterns in the text layout (multiple aligned columns across several rows). This works well for simple, ruled tables but may be less accurate for complex, merged-cell, or irregularly formatted tables.
